Presenter: Feler Bose, Ph.D.
Abstract
In the context of the epidemic of opioid deaths, Dr. Bose will briefly discuss the four national models of addiction treatment on which the nation is investing its resources. The models are the Minnesota Model, the Florida Model, the Pennsylvania Model, and the Massachusetts Model. Cost benefit analysis will be completed to understand the efficacy of these four models. These four models will be compared to patients with spontaneous remission. From this analysis, policy recommendations will be made.
Biographical Statement
Feler Bose is an associate professor of economics and finance at Indiana University East. He received his PhD in Economics from George Mason University, and a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology. His research interests include applied microeconomics, political economy, law and economics, and economics of religion. In the last few years, he has been working in the area of opioid addiction treatments and has been interacting with those helping the addicted. Bose has published papers in journals including the Journal of Environmental Economics and Policy, Constitutional Political Economy and Public Choice. He is a member of several professional organizations including the Association for the Study of Religion, Economics, and Culture, Southern Economic Association, Public Choice, Mises Institute, and the Association of Private Enterprise Education.
