Amanda
Aguilera is the Local History Librarian at the Hammond Public Library
archives in Hammond, Indiana. Her job responsibilities include archival
processing, the creation of digital collections, and working with
regional heritage organizations such as the Calumet Heritage
Partnership, Calumet Curators, and the Field Museum. She graduated with a
Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Purdue University in 2015, followed
by her Master of Library and Information Science from Syracuse
University in 2017. During her last semester of graduate school, Amanda
completed an internship at Tulane University where she worked on
metadata creation for the Newcomb College Alumnae Oral History Project.
This experience led to a love for digital collections and accessibility.
In 2019, she went on to become a Digital Archives Specialist and a
Certified Archivist in 2020. Her research interests include digital
archives and the juxtaposition of local history repositories and
traditional archives.
