Kaltura MediaSpace 07: Editing Videos
From Group Media on December 2nd, 2016
To begin, head to the IU MediaSpace webpage at the URL https://iu.mediaspace.kaltura.com. Upon accessing the MediaSpace homepage, login by clicking “guest” in the upper right corner of the webpage. After logging into your account, select “my media” from the list after clicking where your name appears.
You will now be on your media homepage. Locate the video you wish to edit. Next to that video’s listing, you will see a button that says “edit”. This will take you to a variety of editing options. Out of the tabs listed, we’ll be focusing on “thumbnails”, “timeline”, “create clip” and “trim video”.
Your video thumbnail will be the still image that shows before the video begins to play. You can upload your own image from your local desktop if you have one prepared. You may also drag the video player timeline to a specific frame you want to set as the thumbnail and then hit the capture button to set that. Lastly, you can use the “auto-generate” option. When you select this, MediaSpace will generate a selection of frames for you to choose from.
Moving on, you can enhance your media content by uploading slides to section off parts of your videos. You will want to upload your slides through the upload deck button and select your desired slide resolution. You may either drag the video player or on the timeline below the video to find the desired input points.
Next we have the “create clip” option. By clicking on the “create clip” button located next to the delete button, you can select in and out points on the video to section out desired clips from the full video by using the set starting and ending buttons below the media player. You can preview your clips before you create your clip. Like your other media content, you will need to select the appropriate publishing settings for this video. Once you are done editing the metadata and publishing settings, hit the “create clip” button. Your clip will then be saved as a new media filed in your media center.
