Beliefs in fairies, witches, vampires, and magic have led people to commit murder, exhumation, enslavement, and wrongful death. These beliefs have existed in many cultures throughout history and persist into modern times, despite new beliefs in science and the explanation of nature introduced during the Age of Enlightenment. In this poster, I explore beliefs in the supernatural that led to these horrible acts against another person. Understanding the connections between these beliefs and justifications for illegal or taboo actions using an anthropological perspective allows us to explore deeper cultural meanings in the supernatural.
