This
video explores the inner world of Drew Denton, an art therapy graduate student
at the Herron School of Art and Design, as she examines how cultural
expectations and media shape women’s mental health. Drawing on research
regarding stereotypes and stigma related to women's personality, bodies, and
menstruation, she then conducted an arts-based self-study using mixed-media
collage and reflective writing. Her work revealed how internalized misogyny and
societal pressures influence her identity and personal growth. Ultimately, she
developed an action-oriented approach to reclaim agency and navigate a
patriarchal society on her own terms.
