Kaltura MediaSpace 05: Kaltura In Canvas
From ksbmedia Media on December 2nd, 2016
The first thing you will want to do is to head to the URL canvas.iu.edu and login with your IU login credentials. Once you’re logged in, navigate to your course’s specific Canvas page.
Perhaps the most functional aspect to use as an instructor is the Kaltura tool that “lives” in each WYSIWYG (wiz E wig) text editor. Any announcement, assignment, quiz item or module page that has a text editor has a direct embed tool that accesses your Kaltura “My Media”. This means you can embed your videos anywhere!
Additionally, within each course you have the option to enable or disable Kaltura in your site navigation through the settings page. When enabled, you have 2 options for Kaltura. The two different Kaltura listings are “Kaltura: Media Gallery” and “Kaltura: My Media”.
In “Kaltura: My Media” you will see the content you own. This is user specific, and each instructor and student ONLY sees their media. On this page you can upload and manage your media by clicking the blue “Add Media” button or by clicking directly on a recording. This page is exactly the same as what you see on the IU Kaltura MediaSpace site itself.
The second listing is specifically for your Canvas course. Under “Kaltura: Media Gallery”, you will see videos anyone in the class has placed there. It's a great way to share within the class and allow peers to review other students videos.
Again, remember that your class will only be able to see content that is published. Private content will only is only seen by the content owner, and unlisted content can only be accessed if a direct link to the video is provided.
