This book project—under contract with Oxford University Press—has three aims. The first is to
convince the reader that law and technology represents a coherent field deserving of its own,
distinct methodology. The second is to articulate a rigorous and consistent method by which
to explore the intersection of law, policy, and particular technologies, which the author terms
the ends-affordance approach. The third is to apply the ends-affordance approach to a series of
past, present, and anticipated technologies to evidence its value. The author seeks input on all
aspects of this early project, especially as to the questions and issues a satisfactory methodology around law and technology would address.
