Miguel Brito discusses how his company is reaching underserved communities in rural Guatemala with Kelley MBA student Nick Sterne. Brito, President of Soluciones Comunitarias, founded the company in 2005 with the primary objective of providing rural communities with access to health and well-being products that would otherwise be unavailable. He explains that these communities lack these goods because businesses are focused on serving more densely populated areas. Soluciones Comunitarias runs a micro consignment business model that is built around finding trustworthy entrepreneurs to sell these products in the rural communities. Brito explains that he has received very positive responses from the communities and is working to expand throughout all regions of Guatemala. In response to a question about competition, he explains that the primary objective is to serve these people, so he strives for collaboration with other companies whenever possible to meet the needs of the communities. *This video was recorded as a part of the Indiana University CIBER Focus Vodcast Series.
