Laura Holzman, an associate professor of art history and museum studies and Public Scholar of Curatorial Practices and Visual Art, discusses the intersection of business, law, and art with Karen E Laine.
Laine, a businesswoman, former attorney, and designer who graduated from IU McKinney School of Law in 1992, has worked as a prosecutor as well as a criminal defense attorney throughout her legal career. She then went into the home renovation business, appearing on the television shows “Two Chicks and a Hammer” and “Good Bones” with her daughter Mina. Laine frequently creates one-of-a-kind works of art and is involved in the overall design process of “Good Bones,” which is now in its seventh season.
This event is part of the Jordan H. and Joan R. Leibman Forum on the Legan and Business Environment of Art. In 2004, the Leibman Forum was established at IUPUI to investigate issues concerning the legal and business environment of the arts. It is a collaboration between the IU Kelley School of Business in Indianapolis, the IU McKinney School of Law, and the Herron School of Art and Design at IUPUI.
