Teaching non-tech students to program their own apps in English
Session: 1
Location: State Room West
Presenter(s): André De Tienne
Track: Powering student success
Presentation method: Virtual and in person
Description: This session advocates teaching software programming to non-tech-minded students in a way never implemented at scale in the US. Only three skills are required: elementary English syntax; elementary Boolean logic; and being good at analysis. A trend that has been growing for 30 years is coding in straight English fast and reliably. The stellar example is the LiveCode script. Any student can use it to program any cross-platform app they need. That will make them more employable anywhere.
