Building Trust and Transparency

Presented by Lee Staton from IU Southeast in New Albany, Indiana.  Lee’s team is divided into two areas: the campus Web team which develops the websites for every unit on campus.  They are responsible for IUS.IU.edu.  And the second team is the UITS Communications team and they are involved in communicating all the different IT initiatives to faculty, staff and students on campus.

That can involve video, posters, digital signage, and emails.

On the web side, what we do is important because campus needs experts on how to develop the websites.  If people were left to their own devices, there would be no consistency and things would not be presented as well.  We collaborate with our marketing department to try and put forward the best website that we can. 

On the IT Communications side it is important to build trust between IT and the campus community.  It is important to tell them what you are going to do and following through is how you build trust, which build transparency.
