As an adjunct, I
introduce non-traditional academic practices by working with students and the
Evansville African American Museum to create unique courses in which students
help create classes to explore their passions through a university and museum
setting. Since employed at the University of Evansville, students, guest
lecturers, and I have created courses through the Department of Diversity,
Equity, and Inclusion that focus on exhibition development, mental health,
local history, nutrition, and social justice. By collaborating with students
and making courses to fit their needs and desires, we have built emotional and
practical connections that have positively impacted not only the University of
Evansville, but the Evansville African American Museum's community
