Mangala Subramaniam (Purdue University): “Over the Hurdles and Through the Hoops: Building Equity into Promotion Processes”
Dr. Subramaniam reveals some of the hidden hurdles in promotion processes, suggest strategies for addressing bias in reviews, and shares with faculty how they can go about creating mechanisms for ensuring equitable promotion processes, particularly for women and faculty of color.
Lauren MacLean (IUB): “Increasing Department Diversity from Almost Zero”
Dr. MacLean presents her successes and challenges with building equity and inclusion in a majority-white male department by reevaluating annual merit review guidelines and strategic recruitment processes.
