Abstract:
Automated Class Assignment – How Students Like It
This presentation examines the various aspects of a highly automated scaffolding comprehensive analytical class assignment and investigates students’ liking of it. This includes their perception of how interesting they found the assignment, how helpful the assignment was to their study in the course, and how the assignment enhanced their knowledge as a business student. Students’ comments on each part of the assignment will also be summarized and analyzed.
Biography:
Dr. Oi Lin Cheung has been working for IU East since 2009. She is a Finance Professor at the School of Business and Economics. She teaches financial management and investment to junior and senior students. Dr. Cheung is a member of the IU FACET (Indiana University Faculty Academy on Excellence in Teaching), who has demonstrated and will continue to commit to excellence in teaching and learning. She is also the Discipline Coordinator of Finance at her school (and Economics as well in previous years). She has been coordinating the efforts of the faculty in her responsible discipline(s) in delivering the related programs. At the same time, she works as the Director of the IU East Business and Economic Research Center (BERC). Dr. Cheung conducts the annual East-Central Indiana business survey. She maintains the IU East Regional Business Confidence Index, which gauges the confidence of those knowledgeable business operators in doing business in the region. Dr. Cheung serves as a panel member in the annual Business Outlook Panel held in Richmond and writes the yearly Richmond Forecast article in the Indiana Business Review published by the Indiana Business Research Center at IU's Kelley School of Business, and the annual East-Central Indiana Business Survey Report released on the BERC website.
