We shudder at the term networking, whether students or lifelong career development professionals. Why? Because networking can have a cold and disconnected association. Members of CDPI consistently say they are looking for community and connection with other members of the field, especially since the COVID-19 pandemic began. But how can we (the audience and CDPI) go beyond networking and reframe the idea so we can build community, connection, and collaboration between the career development professionals in Indiana? Through this session, the CDPI Professional Development Coordinator Jeffry Neuhouser, will first guide participants through the importance of reframing networking before leading a brief community building activity. This session will conclude with a discussion about what development opportunities CDPI members would like to see moving forward, and how community between professionals can be fostered. Discussion will include affinity groups, professional mentoring, workshops to develop specific skills, and resource libraries with time for audience ideas and suggestions.
