This presentation will begin with a brief simulation
of a first-year college student beginning a fast-paced college course, in the
style of Ivy Tech’s Learn Anywhere Program. The audience members will act as
the beginning college students, with no real context of the short lesson at
hand, simulating the “first day” of class. A short reflection will follow in
the form of a poll and follow-up discussion of the poll’s results, focused on
how the audience members felt under those learning circumstances. Then, an
informational segment of Ivy Tech Community College’s Learn Anywhere Program
will take place, followed by perceptions of both Ivy Tech students and faculty,
including both presenters’ experiences co-teaching an 8-week, co-requisite,
Learn Anywhere, English composition course from August to October of 2021. This
session will end with open discussion, as well as Q&A’s.
