This session will showcase a panel of measurement projects from SEISMIC (
seismicproject.org), a cross-institutional collaboration of educators, researchers, students, student support staff, and more who work in higher education and have seen the persistent problem of inequity and non-inclusion in STEM education. With ample time for Q&A, the panel will include the following: (1) Christian Fischer ( University of Tübingen) sharing about the relationship between Advanced Placement course credit and student success in gateway courses; (2) Sarah Castle ( Michigan State University) sharing about a method for mapping systemic advantages within STEM courses; and (3) Natalia Caporale ( University of California, Davis) sharing about equity gaps in upper-division STEM courses.
