This keynote presentation is focused on exploring the evolution of faculty engagement with learning analytics data at the University of Kansas, including the initial and iterative development of a faculty learning community that leverages the strengths of departmental working groups and cross-departmental conversations. As part of the maturation of this effort, faculty engagement with learning analytics has shifted from a primary focus on the data to increased focus on supporting exploration and planning for academic improvements. The learning analytics programs at KU will be described with attention to the departmental focus of the initiative. Case studies from multiple participating departments will be discussed, considering the kinds of learning analytics data they gathered, and how these data were used to determine action plans to support student success and enact programmatic change.
